Respite For the Weary
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

King Eternal,
Only by Your grace my children are Your chosen people. Remind and convict their hearts that they are not their own - that they belong to you. May they be full of wonder at the miracle which You performed in each of them - drawing them out of darkness into Your marvelous light!
I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying, "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules." Daniel 9:4-5
Dear Lord,
Help us not to "skim over confession." Rather, cause us to probe our hearts before you, pouring out anything that is errant in our thoughts or actions. In your steadfast love, forgive us, cleanse us, and renew us again. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
