Respite For the Weary
Isaiah 9:6
For a child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Matthew 1:21-23
And she will bear a Son, and you will call His name Jesus... for it is He who will save His people from their sins. Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled saying, “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means “God with us”.

How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse in falsehood. Psalm 40:4
Dear Lord,
May we keep our eyes fixed on you, not turning to the right or to the left. Convict us when we are proud, and enlighten us when we are misguided. Merciful Father, please pull our gaze back to you. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
