Consider the Butterfly

I love how God uses all of His creation to speak both practical and spiritual lessons into our lives. In Proverbs 30:24-31, He advises us to observe the ants, the badgers, the locusts, the lizards, the lion, the strutting cock, and the male goat. Amazingly, all have something to teach us.

Yesterday, I was observing the butterfly. As I watched the dash of color lift and land, lift and land, the Lord re-spoke the lesson He has given each of our hearts through this insect, His insect:
First of all, we must consider that this lovely spectacle starts its life as a little green caterpillar. The unassuming creature then wraps itself tightly in a silk cocoon. In this quiet place, something marvelous transforms: the eyes grow larger, and the intricate wings and antennae begin to blossom into maturity. And then, at just the right time, the new creation breaks free.
Now, what does God have for you and for me in this living picture? At times, we too can feel like the insignificant caterpillar that blends in with its surroundings, wondering if we have any purpose or value in this world. But because we have the Lord, we have Hope!
My friend, if you are in a place of questioning concerning your past, present, or future, allow your Creator to come and wrap His love around you like a silk cocoon; sit with Him, rest with Him, alone, and acknowledge the strong and trustworthy hold He has on you. In this place of peace, allow Him to work His purpose into your “wings”; and be patient as He does. Believe that the good work that He has started in you, He will also complete. And when its time…He will open His hands, and ask you to fly in freedom, bringing His dashes of color to this dark world.
Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. II Corinthians 5:17

It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Galatians 5:1
