Who Is This Jesus

DECEMBER 20 ~ He Came to Give Comfort

John 14:18

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Matthew 5:4

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 34:18-19

The Lord is near the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good new to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken- hearted… to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giv- ing them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, the He may be glorified.

My Child,
I came to give you comfort. Your afflictions will not go unnoticed by Me. I too was afflicted, so I understand. Be convinced that I am present with you in your trial, and I will hold your hand each step of the way until you reach the other side. In the meantime, hear me whisper My words of encouragement and peace; let My words of truth bind up your broken heart.
